Frequently Asked Questions

Below you will find a list of the most common question that I receive.  If you have a question that is not answered here, please feel free to reach out to me.  I am happy to answer any additional questions that you may have.

Do you interact with guests during an event?

At a wedding, most guests are pleasantly surprised at the unique opportunity to see a live painter working to capture your special moments. I have often found wedding guests are curious about the painting process, and will watch or engage in conversations around the canvas while I paint. Usually during a wedding, attendees are curious about the painting, and might enjoy asking questions and discussing my art process. Gathering around my canvas offers a unique experience to your guests. I love creating a lasting keepsake for the couple to preserve their special day.

Typically, while painting at a live event, the art itself is my primary focus. Because my paintings are completed within a specific window of time, I do stay directly where the easel and canvas are set up, while guests are free to approach and watch as I paint.

Do you paint from photos?

Yes, I am able to use photos for detail reference. For weddings, I usually request a photo of the Bride & Groom, to be emailed ahead of time in the pose they want to be seen in the painting. This is often from one of their engagement photos. I also have them email me a picture of the clothes they will be wearing the day of the wedding, how the bride plans to wear her hair, and a picture of the place of the event.

The general placement of the painting is planned out before the wedding. I put together a picture or sketch for the Bride and Groom to approve the concept in advance. On the day of the wedding, I begin painting on a white canvas and paint the entire picture adding the visual elements to it, on the day of the wedding event.

For conferences, worship nights, and retreats, I research the theme, and message of the event. After I have put together the basic idea of the painting, a picture or sketch of what the painting will look like is then emailed to the event coordinator or event speaker for approval prior to the event.

What size paintings do you offer?

The size you choose will be what feels right to you. Consider the space you have in your home, and where you would like to display your original finished artwork.

For live wedding paintings, the size can range from 24 x 30 inches, 24 x 36 inches, and 35 x 40 inches. However, the best size to be seen from a distance is 35 x 40.

For conferences, fundraiser banquets, worship nights, and concerts, the paintings are usually larger, so they can be seen from a distance, during the event. These paintings can range in size from 3.5 x 4 feet to 4 x 5.75 feet.

What paint medium and canvas surface do you use?

For weddings I usually work on fine artist canvas stretched on a wood frame. This blank white canvas is ready to be hung and displayed.

For a budget option, I can also work on self-adhesive vinyl. This is applied to foam board and mounted to a PVC board. (This method also allows shapes to be cut and layered inside the painting for layered depth-effects, if desired.)

When will I receive my finished painting?

Generally your hand-painted art on canvas will be completed by the end of the event. Packaging materials will be provided to you at that time for transporting the painting.

Or, if your piece is a more complicated painting, that requires more time than the event allows, I may add the finishing touches in my studio. The painting will then be shipped to the proper location.

What other services do you offer?

As an artist, I am happy to provide numerous other painting services. I can create a custom painting for you, a mural for your home or office, and also provide logo design services. To see photos of this work, please review my gallery pages.
